Hello there,
i would like to invite you to a few tournaments in Katowice, Poland. Great prizes and a lot of fun! Also, as for the route in Poland, you go by Autobahn all the way to the site - that makes getting there really easy. So, here we go!
Grand Prix Trial Rotterdam
Date: 18.01.2009 (sunday)
Start: 10:00 (registration starts at 9:30)
Site: Scena Gugalander, ul. Jagiellonska 17a, 40-032 Katowice
Format: Sealed Deck (Alara) + Booster Draft in Top 8
Entry fee: 85 PLN (around 25 Euro)
Prizes: Depending on number of participants first 1 to 8 players get a third round bye for GP Rotterdam and booster prizes depending on attendance.
If there are 50 players, prize support will be:
1 – 108 + 3 bye
2 – 48 + 3 bye
3 – 24
4 – 12
of course more players = better prizes!

Entry fee: 100 PLN (around 30 euro)
Prizes: 2x PT Honolulu Invitation + Flight ticket to Honolulu for the Winner! If there are 100+ players 2 flight tickets will be awarded.
Booster boxes for Top 8 depending on attendance (more players = more boosters!) Regardless of attendance, flight ticket and minimum 7 boxes will be awarded for top8 players.
GPT Hannover
Date: 15.02.2009 (sunday)
Start: 11:00 (registration starts at 10:00)
Format: Extended
Entry Fee: 50 PLN (around 15 Euro)
Prizes: Depending on number of participants first 1 to 8 players get a third round bye na GP Hannover and booster prizes depending on attendance.
If there are 50 players, prize support will be:
1 108 3bye
2 48 3bye
3-4 24
5-8 12
Side Events
8 person flights at any time during the convention
Drafts SSE,AAA,AAC,CCC
Entry Fee: 35 PLN (around 10 Euro)
Prizes: boosters, payout: 5/3/2/2 or 8/4
Constructed (any format):
Entry Fee: 15 zl (around 5 Euro)
Prizes: boosters, payout: 8/4/2/2
Convention entry fee:
2 days - 15 PLN (around 5 Euro)
1 day - 10zB (Around 3 Euro)
If you pay for 2-days acreditation, you're allowed to be on site during the night. You can sleep there, if you take your sleeping bag.

Hello there!
Some details has changed regarding PTQ Honolulu in Katowice.
Format is Extended (not standard as in the first post)
there are 2 invitations to PT (for the 1st and 2nd place)
if there are 100+ players, 2 flight tickets will be awarded.
Prizes - 50 players
1. Pro Tour Honolulu invitation + flight ticket
2. Pro Tour Honolulu invitation + 3 booster boxes
3-4. 1 booster box
5-8. 18 boosters
100 players:
1. Pro Tour Honolulu invitation + flight ticket

Hast du überhaupt mal geguckt, wo Katowice liegt? München ist näher.

If you are willing to come despite the distance I have a hint: you shoud plan your route through A4 Autobahn. it's free of charge, and you'll be in katowice in 2 hours (after crossing border) without speeding. it's not that far really

Irgendwie kommen mir diese Beiträge vor wie in dem Film Hostel, wo sie einen auch ins schöne Osteuropa locken wollen 
.
Außerdem ist die Quali ohne Flug praktisch nix wert-

if there are 100+ players, there are 2 flight tickets as a prize. On ptq Kyoto (1 slot) there was a 105 players, so it's not that unlikely that this time again a 100+ will show up.

ashraf, ich hab schon nachgeschaut, mit dem zug wären es halt so 14 h...
fliegen geht nicht unter 180 eur, das ist mir dann doch zu viel

by car on the other hand, I get to Frankfurt am Mein in 7 hours with stops (from Katowice). 1 litre of fuel costs 0,75 eur in Poland, so 1500km (to and from poland) would be about 150 litres that is around 120 Euro. If there are 4 people in the car, travel cost would be 30-40 EUR. And as I said, I easily get to Frankfurt in 7 hours.

gogog ashraf es gibt doch den guten zug von hh nach krakow.
ich fahr auf jedenfall hin macht doch sicher voll spaß der Trip und nach Polen wollt eich schon immer schließlich hab ich bisher nur positives aus Polen gehört.
Außerdem haben sie eine interessante Kultur und billig ist es auch noch, warum nicht mit einen Kurztrip in Krakow verbinden.

Hmm,
als Polen-Reisender will ich auch mal was dazu sagen: operator stimme ich prinzipiell erstmal in allem zu, das hier ist also kein Lockangebot. Die Autobahn ist zumindest bis Breslau inzwischen in einem super Zustand (danach weiss ich nicht), von Berlin bis Kattowitz sollte man mit dem Auto in unter drei Stunden kommen (zumindest mit meiner Fahrweise ;)). Da der Zloty-Kurs momentan auch immer günstiger wird, sind die Benzin-Kosten sehr, sehr moderat.
Zug in Polen ist eher so - naja - schon langsam eben.
Wenn man noch einen touristischen Abstecher machen will, würde ich auch eher Breslau empfehlen, da es auf dem Weg liegt und ebenfalls einen wunderschönen Innenstadtbereich hat.
Kattowitz dagegen mag zum Magicspielen zwar geeignet sein, als Stadt zum Anschauen ist es das jeodch nur sehr bedingt (es sei denn, man steht auf (ehemalige?) Umweltkatastrophengebiete).

Banause.
Der Krakauer Wawel gehört zu den beeindruckendsten Bauwerken der böhmischen Renaissance. Auch die anderen Werke der humanistischen Baumeister, wie z.B. allen voran Veit Stoß (oder Wit Stwosz oder so ähnlich auf polnisch), sind ebenso sehenswert. Das Essen ist super, die kleinen Cafés können sich sehen lassen, und der Markplatz an sich ist schon eine Reise wert, auch ohne sich den Wawel anzugucken.
Wirklich, Krakau ist schon super. Und man kann sich die Fahrt (in einem vernünftigen Auto) auch wirklich erlauben.
Zu Kattowitz kann ich leider nichts sagen, da war ich noch nie. Aber fahrt mal zum PTQ! Wenn die Franzosen bei uns Slots klauen wollen, müssen wir uns unsere halt auch woanders als in Holland holen.
